They say that everything’s bigger in Texas, but thanks to global expansion, Tamlyn are growing fast in the UK too. Our second Meet the Manufacturer feature highlights Tektum’s partnership with Tamlyn, providing building wraps and facade products for Scottish building contractors.
From humble beginnings in the garden of a family home in Texas in 1971, Tamlyn has grown into a multimillion dollar international business. Still owned by the Tamlyn family, the company expanded into the UK in 2019 and we are proud that Tektum is their main distributor in Scotland.
With operations in the USA, Mexico, Brazil and South Korea, Tamlyn has global reach for their range of trims, facade products, building wraps, underlays, fabrications and fire protection products, but it’s local expertise that’s making the difference in Scotland with a tailored range of roofing membranes and facade planks.
Tamlyn Cladwraps are designed for both roof and wall applications and are UV-stabilised. Cladwrap is BBA certified and HNBC-compliant and their high tear and wind uplift resistance means that they are among the very few membranes recommended for use in every wind zone in
the UK, therefore covering every area in Scotland.
These heavier membranes are designed not to lift in high winds and are sturdy enough to withstand even the most severe zone 5 conditions, providing a weatherproof layer underneath roof tiles and metal sheeting which allows warm moist air out while preventing exterior moisture from entering the structure.
With a growing emphasis on fire safety in construction, one product being extensively used in cladding remediation and in new build construction is Reflectaflame. A highly vapour permeable building wrap, Reflectaflame is recognised as being “non-combustible” in Scotland
and is A2-s1 d0 fire rated. It achieves a W1 rating for water penetration and can be used to benefit all manner of construction methods including timber frame, SIP panel, SFS and traditional masonry.
Tamlyn’s Xtreme Cementitious Plank is a reinforced fibre cement board with high impact resistance, weathering properties and durability. Available in 20 standard colours but with the option to be made to match any BS, NCS or RAL colour, our plank system is A1 fire rated to
BS-EN 13501-1 2018 A1 and a range of matching aluminium trims can be supplied.
